The sequence at 2:20 where he looks down at the track is actually the same footage just a few seconds later when he looks up from the track, just reversed. You can tell by the eye movement.

I love how in this scene the train only starts to slow down when Jesse gets up on the pile of wood and makes his presence known

I bet there's a Red Dead Redemption 2 developer looking at this comment section with a shit grin on his/her face. Who ever paid homage to this haunting scene in Red Dead 2 from Rockstar, thank you. I'm glad more people are realizing this unsung masterpiece.

Lyrics: I'm a good old rebel that's just what I am, and for the yankee nation I just don't give a damn, I'm glad a fought a ganner I only wish we'd won, I ain't ask any pardon for anything I done I hate the yankee nation and everything they do, I hate the declaration of independence too I hate the glorious union t'is dripping with our blood, I hate the stripped banner and fit it all I could.

The thing to do would have been to keep right on going. the front end scoop would have made short work of both the debris on the tracks, and any fool stupid enough to just keep on standing there.

Just played the mission in RDR2 with the homage to this scene. Had to come back and see the original.
Black Dynamite 16 days ago
Kurtis1996 Plagiarism would mean they copied the entire scene, when in the game there's a whole story around the train, its an oil wagon forcing them to stop and not just wood, and you rob individual passengers not just the load, also I don't think Jesse got in a shootout on this train. You idiot

Carlos Garzia ya it’s called plagiarism

this scene is definitely a highly, highly memorable scene. watched this movie for the first time years ago in like 2008 or something, never fforgot it. watche dit 3-4 times since then. pure genius and sometimes, nothing like a good old western! though not all of the great westerns are cut from the same cloth.

This movie should have swept the oscars that year.
ULTRAWIDE 24 days ago
Jason H The studio didn’t have any faith in this film according to the director. They didn’t promote it and it only showed in a handful of cinemas. One of the biggest cinematic sins ever committed. This is one of the best films and perhaps the best western ever made imo. One day we will hopefully see the directors cut and a lovely 4K transfer of it to boot.
