Bleached the hair that light then toned it back to almoooost black. Bleach bath would’ve been better

i used to be a darker blonde and when i was 19 I dyed my hair black it was dark. anyways now that I am getting older I feel like I want to go lighter because I am getting premature greys ALOT of them and i am only 32! I have been trying to let me hair grow out but the look of that is horrifying to me. So what do you think I should do? Pls let me know something cause it is driving me crazy

I actually like how subtle thue is as she has a gorgeous base colour.
lushpaw 3 months ago
looks gorgeous with just the right amount of color lift to give definition instead of it being flat. there is beauty in subtlety.

Wow this is gorgeous!! Can u do ash brown with these same babylights with ash blonde??

what about a face framing balayage or highlight on dark hair for someone that just wants dimension round the face and not wanting to go blonde

Love SynchroLift!! I go to Paul Mitchell and we used Synchro & 10 to make me platinum. It didn't damage my hair at all😍

Stop shaking your hair so I can actually see what it looks like.

Did you mix the shades eq with a developer? I swear sometimes I see toners not being mixed with developers. Am I crazy?

Who else bets she paid a couple hundred dollars for this to look almost exactly the same.

Stop creasing the damn foils so tight

I love your videos, but a constructive critic is maybe considering using less intense music. I feel like it would feel more professional, and pleasant to watch, if you used music without singing. Hearing the same chorus over and over after each time you speak is kind of annoying and distracts from the wonderful information you are giving. Especially with this guy whaling away, it is takes away from the video a bit.

Katrina thanks!

Love!! I like that you use fouls instead of freehand painting. Makes way more sense to me with the same result!

How do you get a chocolate brown colour? What numbers do you suggest? I usually cover my hair with a level 5 and it’s a dark brown. Thanks
Bizzy Lulgjuraj 1 year ago
Jessi, on average how long does it take you to put the foils in for a full head of highlights or this balayage?
Anya Hallow 1 year ago
Makes me cringe every time you pinch and crease those foils so tight lol!!! But lovely results

I have a client who is a natural level 3/4. The past few times she has wanted to go darker & we just did her hair again. I used SEQ 1B and 3N. She wants to go blonde in June. I explained to her that it will take consistent sessions to achieve this & we have to do it slowly. She understands this. How would u approach the 1st session? Since she has seq in her hair, do I need to use a color extractor 1st?
Style67 1 year ago
Thanks so much for the help, that’s what I’ll do. All of your videos are so helpful & you are a true inspiration!!
Jessi - JZ Styles 1 year ago
I would just do a full highlight leaving out as little as possible, and just using a low developer to start the lifting process but keeping the integrity of her hair!

What formula did you use on your hair? It’s gorgeous!

I wish I could show my customers this video! Had someone say that I “make my customers come in multiple times when going blonde so I can make as much money off them as possible” NO! It’s important to go slow and steady so you don’t have fried, brittle, short blonde hair

I just started messing with shades more. I'm sort of doing this with a lady but she has very gray outgrowth. Dose shades cover gray?
Jessi - JZ Styles 1 year ago
No it does not! Its a demi permanent.

I love this video! I love ALL of your videos! I’m 2 months out of school and wondering when do you comb out the back comb and do you have any tricks for that? Also where did you get that board?! You changed my life showing me how to use the board around nape and above the ears! I wish I could work with you!
Jessi - JZ Styles 1 year ago
You are so sweet, thank you! I use a wet brush or bathpack after i rinse the hair and work out the tangles with either of those brushes and it works great!!

Not true. Guy Tang has a new hand drawn technique with amazing results that looks fresh and not outdated in the least!

Beautiful work! Did your client have virgin hair? I also love trying different lighteners and I was impressed with the Swarzkopf blondme. My client was able to go from level 2 to level 8 in 40 minutes with no heat. I was shook lol.

How do you decide what toner combination you are going to use? Is it just trial and error?
Jessi - JZ Styles 1 year ago
I think once you're comfortable with a color line, it gets easier to pinpoint what toners to use because you know how they tone!! So I just mix certain toners that will get me to the desired result!
emilywinters 1 year ago
How do you brush out the tease? Do you do it before you get the hair wet or after? And what type of brush/comb do you use?
Jessi - JZ Styles 1 year ago
Wet brush and Bathpack are both incredible brands of brushes to use to get the tangles out! I usually will get the hair wet and work out the tangles with either of those brushes and it comes out like a dream!
Candi 1 year ago
emilywinters Personally, I tease very gently. I just wash and condition normally (brush after back in chair with a Wet Brush) and never have issues. I think the trick is gentle/soft teasing

I absolutely adore you and your channel but this doesn't look any much different than the beginning. I know going super blonde really fast is scary but you also don't want to be too cautious.

I feel the same way as you about the techniques. I have never been one to just paint it on the hair without some sort of separator or heat conductor. I'm a blonde specialist so most my clients want BLONDE. But even when I'm adding caramel highlights I still use foil with lower developer. The looks are the same but we have strengthened the technique! :-)
Abbey Mooneyham 1 year ago
Courtney B Stylist I love doing both! If they have hair past the middle of the shoulder blades, I ALWAYS use foil but any shorter than that I love to just get into it and go for it! The only thing without using the foil or wrap, you have to keep saturating the hair which is oh-so time consuming🙄😂😂

Try dual purpose lightener by Paul Mitchell! Lifts and works so much better !

Thanks for the recommendation, i will add it to my list!

Your Cat Is Ugly lol 1 year ago
Her hair looks darker than a level 3. It's almost black.
Abbey Mooneyham 1 year ago
L S yeah with your hair already being chemically treated it definitely helped on both yours and the hairstylist part!! I’m happy it turned out great for you!!
Your Cat Is Ugly lol 1 year ago
Dante Velasquez I did it all in about a week. I wouldn't say my hair is seriously damaged, just a few more splits than before, but I did have a caramel ombre half way down the lengths, so it was partially lifted already.
Dante Velasquez 1 year ago
Yes, it can definitely be done, but there is a risk of damage, and with some people, it can be very bad damage. As a hairstylist, it is wise to inform clients and urge them to take the slow route lol But of course people do it and the hopefully pamper their hair afterward.
Your Cat Is Ugly lol 1 year ago
Wayne Lucas it looks more like a level 2. It's not quite black, but a shade below.
Your Cat Is Ugly lol 1 year ago
Dante Velasquez my hair is a level 3 naturally. I lift it to mixture of level 8,9 and 10. My hair is also mid back length. It can be done if you don't mind a few splits.

Love seeing variations in Client hair color! You’re such a professional! Do you think taking slightly less finer weaves would have made it a little brighter and visible? Or maybe the 6 kind of darkened it a bit? Still very soft and natural looking! ❤️
The HAIR Lounge by Ashli K, LLC Ashli 1 year ago
Abbey Mooneyham I agree with you! I’ve had that happen to me as well, it tends to get slightly muddy when we’re trying to color correct dark hair and brassiness. The awesome thing is as it fades it does get brighter so it prolongs the brass coming back. Great reply! teamwork
Abbey Mooneyham 1 year ago
But after all of my unnecessary rambling, both the weaves and color effected it!! So you were completely right on both!!!
Abbey Mooneyham 1 year ago
The HAIR Lounge by Ashli K, LLC Ashli probably where it was a 6 ash instead of 6 warm. Warmer tones tend to pop more that ashy-er (😂) tones would have. And of coarse as the toner fades away, you will be able to see them, in about a month and a half or it might take longer, depending on how the clients hair holds onto the color
