Great video.haven't heard anything related to the title though in terms of dealing with hunger pains during IF. I've been on IF now for a few months, started at 16/8, then 20/4 and now trying 36hr fasting so learning how to deal with hunger would be helpful. IF is the best thing I've done in a long time. This is the only way for me now. Recently discovered this channel and appreciate the work that you do Ed.

So this Dr Ian Smith needs to learn from others because his knowledge is very weak and little misleading , Dr Ian Smith needs to learn from others who know this subject way better like Dr Jason Fung, Dr Berg and Dr Sten Eckberg.

@8:46 plenty of studies have been done this guy just is ignorant to them. Artificial sweeteners do no good for the body and it cause diabetes along with eating carbs every few hours. This guys lack knowledge. 12 hour feeding window? that just stupid! minimum of 16 hours the studies show in humans. This guy is really weak in information to this point.
d 1 month ago
@7:12 the fake sugar tricks the mind into thinking real sugar is coming (carbs) and floods the body with insulin. Chronic high insulin due to fake sweeteners will result in metabolic syndrome then diabetes. Artificial sweeteners are bad news in the long run.

Body also eats MUSCLE TISSUE to get energy, it is not just fat.

@SuperAtheist you said the body burns fat which is false. It burns fat and muscle. Now I know why they call you dumb atheist

@Fitness IQ you said the body burns muscle for energy. now you're saying it for growth/repair. it can't be both. which is it genius?
Fitness IQ 1 month ago
@SuperAtheist thank you for answering your own question. That's why it eats muscles. Dumb atheist
SuperAtheist 1 month ago
@Fitness IQ The body needs protein for growth and repair not energy.
Fitness IQ 1 month ago
@SuperAtheist absolutely false. The body wants energy. The body also needs protein for energy. Muscle

Love how you not only have mindset things, but also tangibles like this! My sweetheart has been telling me about fasting, and this popped right up! Perfect!

It's a mindset@eating healthier. How many times do you go thru a drive thru a week for your lunch meals. It may b less convenient but your body will thank u for the healthier choice. You could be using that money for a healthier meal at the grocery store. Stay away (as much as u can)from boxed food items lots of processed foods in those. Plus as u get older u tend to eat less I also go by back of ingredient label. If the first 3 items aren't a real product (chicken peas water etc. example)dont get it.I use this method of food shopping for my pets as well

I'm a month into an intermittent fast. My schedule is dead easy because i've never done a fast before. I've been skinny my entire life and realized last year that i don't want to gain anymore weight (i'm 5'10, 165lbs). The schecule i'm on is an alternate day 16/8 - i eat between 1500 - 2000 calories every other day. My 8 hour eating time frame is 1pm to 9pm. I also drink 20oz of water at 9am, noon, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm every day. I've realized that eating is a choice, and now realize how often we eat mindlessly. Many times i eat more out of some wierd nostalgia or some obligation to feed some unnamed anxiety or fear. This month i realized i have no discipline at all, i mean none, i can't even pretend to have any or make excuses anymore. It's embarrassing to see how often you let yourself down multiple times every day, and how casually you do it. You realize that details are important and small decisions add up on you over time. Thank you for this video you guys, it's exactly what the doctor ordered

12-12 is not effective. I do 20-4 with a 44-4 once a week. Eat clean, resistance & cardio 4-5 x a week. Works great.

The food processors have consistently dumped tons of sugar into all types of food, even infant Similac is loaded with sugar. For instance you really don't need sugar to make bread, but look at the back of a package of the more expensive (and supposedly more healthy) Oat brand bread..5 grams of sugar per slice!! Look at Bar-b-que Sauce or Ketchup, 10, 15 or 30 grams of sugar per bottle. Just imagine looking at an empty bottle of one of those items, then imagine 30 grams of sugar in the bottom taking up all that space, incredible! From what I've read, the food processors intentionally do that, to take advantage of the natural glucose cycling. Eat sugar, then you experience the 'down' from that and just want to eat more to be 'up' again. This is one of the reasons that I think Diabetes is rampant throughout the world. Processed foods are just plain bad for you. And everyone, download the list of sugars out there, there are dozens of sugars with labels you wouldn't normally recognize on the back of a package, hoping to hide because people do not normally recognize them as sugars. I think Dr. Smith is right on target. Thanks Dr. Smith and Ed!

I agree with your speaker. Although I don’t follow his regime exactly I only eat one meal a day with an occasional snack from time to time later on. I have done this for forty years and have never suffered as a result of my eating habits. I also know that your speaker is correct about sugar and how you will crave more of it after your initial intake of it. As well he touched on how commercialization of food can skew us towards certain products through the misrepresentation of dietary information available to the public. Thanks again Ed for another great presentation

For me, white tea or green tea is better than drinking coffee. They have detoxing properties that coffee doesn't have. Plus, they don't dehydrate the body, unlike coffee.

If anyone wants to know why addicts cant stop drugs or alcohol? Try any diet or fast. As a former addict its 100% identical. You know it's bad. You know not to eat the bread. Yet it's in your mouth. It takes 3 days to detox off sugars (carbs) just like heroin. So next time you look down on that addict who cant stop. Really the difference is legality. Both are deadly.

I don't ingest any illegal narcotics, coffee, soda, etc. but if I go without my chocolate or sweets for more than 2-3 days, I start getting agitated like a meth addict.

@kauigirl808 wrong! You need more education! Fasting alone promotes weight loss. Just changing your diet don't work. Has not worked for over 70 years, look around everyone is fat and getting fatter. You have to drive down insulin to unlock fat, you need to fast to allow hormones to work in your favor. There so much more to it then what your trying to pass off. If your statement was true none of us would be fat. So you say just change your diet eat less carbs, more protein and veggies. It's not sustainable this has been proven, Just the act of eating starts the release of hormones and some insulin, insulin will drive hunger and you will be fighting trying not to eat all the time. People cave and they are right back where they started and then say well I ate low carb and it don't work DUH! because the act of eating alone starts the snowball of hormones. You must limit your feeding window and then allow the body to recover. The human body was never designed to eat all the time. 3 meals a day is not normal. You do that and try to eat low carb it won't work over the long haul. Fast, eat your calories for the day and not at a reduced rate, eat better less carbs for better results. Low insulin keeps the hunger pangs away. Just learn more, more to it then I can type.
kauigirl808 1 month ago
@d so actually it's not just fasting it's what you eat as well. Of course people will lose weight if they cut out all the sugar, breads, carbs. You can still lose weight without fasting if anyone sticks to this diet. Easy. Protein and veggies.
d 1 month ago
@d btw I do follow Dr Berg etc. I believe there may be health benefits but weight loss is not one of them. I.F. still requires you to be at a calorie deficit so the eating window makes no difference except for the mental benefit that you full more window when you break your fast since you squeeze your calories into a small window. Weight loss is calories in and calories out, everything else is bro science. Wrong!
d 1 month ago
@d so you're telling me if I eat at my maintenance calories everyday but I obey the 16 hour window I will lose weight? Yes look at current study.
