Superman III (6/10) Movie CLIP - Superman vs. Clark Kent (1983) HD

Superman III movie clips: BUY THE MOVIE: Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: CLIP DESCRIPTION: Corrupted by kryptonite, a drunk and angry Superman (Christopher Reeve) engages in an existential battle against his squeaky clean alter ego, Clark Kent (Christopher Reeve), for control of his soul. FILM DESCRIPTION: In a major departure from the tone of the preceding two Superman adventure films, this mix of vile deeds and fantasy heroics drops the S out of cosmic and goes for comic instead. Right at the starting gate, Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor) and a subsequent slapstick sequence upstage (Christopher Reeves again), who later develops an identity crisis. Gorman, newly trained as a computer whiz, starts working for a conglomerate run by the corporate nemesis Ross Webster (Robert Vaughn), intent on world domination. Gorman is sent to Superman's small town of Smallville to wipe out Columbia's coffee crop by fiddling with the computer side of a weather satellite. Clark Kent is in town for his class reunion, leading Superman to clash with Gorman, which in turn, leads Gorman to develop a hybrid red Kryptonite. Unwittingly, since Gorman's wits are always in doubt, the Red Kryptonite causes Superman to split into a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde schizophrenia -- but in two separate bodies. As the evil Superman swaggers around town, megalomaniac Ross Webster has other tricks in mind -- and in one of the more memorable action scenes (interspersed with a video game sequence), Superman is chased through the Grand Canyon by a fast-flying, very determined missile. Lana Lang (Annette O'Toole) is on hand for romantic interest (Margot Kidder only appears briefly -- she was growing tired of Lois Lane). CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. Aw, Superman hurt his hand punching himself. So cute. This scene is awesome because it shows the conflict between the human side of Superman, his desire for power and glory, as well as his spite, contempt and rage for others, against the noble Christ-like figure of Superman that is morally perfect. This is like Injustice Superman Vs real Superman.

Christopher Reeve was such an amazing actor. He plays 3 different roles in this movie and they are all so different. He makes Clark Kent goofy without being too cartoonish, he is loveable and gentle. He makes Superman truly embody 'goodness', and he doesn't make the role goofy or comic book ish, he is so sincere with it which is amazing to watch. It is the opposite of dumbed down action movies, it is like Christopher Reeve truly believes in it, so therefore Superman does. And then the evil Superman, he just seems so broken. Pissed off and angry with a sadistic streak, and it all comes across clear as day. 3 roles in the same movie, all very distinctive. And he nails them all.

The title of this should actually be Bizarro vs. Clark Kent. Bizarro is Superman's doppelganger from the comics (and Superfriends cartoon show) who shares some similarities but is the exact opposite of everything good the true Superman stands for. The filmmakers wanted Bizarro in the third film, but introduced him in an awkward way by exposing Superman to the flawed Kryptonite and causing him to be split into good and evil personalities (one being Clark Kent, representing good and the other being Bizarro, obviously representing evil). The whole junkyard fight scene between Bizarro and Clark Kent is honestly my favorite part of the entire film and the entire plot of the movie should have been centered around Clark having to stop Bizarro from wreaking havoc on Metropolis instead of also including all of the dated supercomputer crap.

The most shocking thing about this is that there was an open pit of acid without any safety guard!

I believe the MAD parody summarized the message of this scene something like, Good can defeat Evil, but only if Good is more violent than Evil.

Christopher Reeve was easily the best superman, although superman 3 had weak script but it's only down to reeves excellent performance that made it good, his portrayal of angry (not evil) superman who didn't feel appreciated was superb, him acting drunk was amazing.RIP Mr Reeves

No one could fly like Chris. He had that art down to a science. You can never tell he was on wires in many scenes. No CGI. especially in Superman 2 at the beginning when he's running through the alleyway and blurriness and changes and then just gently Glides up. He WAS Superman.

i found Evil Superman cool even when i was a kid. I rooted for him to beat Clark. 😂 it sucks to think that even if the corrupted Superman would’ve killed Clark, he would have died from the synthetic kryptonite’s effects. he was sick and reeve’s sniffling and stumbling around really showed that. even ricky saw that that superman was “sick”. it was only a matter of time. i always thought it was clark just being stronger but it was more evil superman getting weaker. he even flinched in pain after he punched clark. a fully healthy evil superman would NOT have flinched in pain!

Damn right! Christopher Reeve is the PERFECT Superman. Look at his face, his height, his mannerisms, his voice and so on. All these new Superman actors such as Henry Cavill don't even come close to Christopher Reeve. 💪
