Most folks fail to even understand that, in reality, Barry Bonds never tested positive for PED's during his playing days. Furthermore, it was only after 2004 that MLB even had a ban on PED use. So to hold individual players accountable, instead the entire MLB during that era is ridiculous. Teams shattered attendance records and generated record revenues and profit, knowing full well what players were doing. Hell, during the race for 62 with McGwire and Sosa, there were post game interview where what McGwire was using being clearly visible in his locker. For me, I feel that one shouldn't vilify any player for actions that wasn't considered illegal at that time it happened.

Yankee fans have no class. Booing superior players on other teams and always talking about 27 rings because that's all they got. Glad Barry made New York his home run derby park.

I don't think that ball has landed yet
larry davis 5 months ago
Had Bonds not been filled with steroids the ball would have landed in the bottom deck. Mickey Mantle not on Steroids hit a baseball striking the facade over more towards right center that bounced back at least 170 ft.

Bonds is the babe Ruth of the steroid era. He is worthy of the Babe’s company because NO ONE hit the ball as consistently hard as Bonds. A truly talented athlete.

WOW! Thank you interleague for that! I remember being in philly during the all star game homerun hitting contest and he and McGwire (not a hof’er in my opinion) were launching shots like that one. I don’t care what anyone says he was amazing.

Dodger fan here. Bonds was a HoFer. When he used PEDs he was something else entirely. Even with PEDs no one else could do what he did. Look at that homer. A line drive landing where it did? Incredible. The whole conversation is controversial, no doubt. But man, no one hits em like he does

steroids or not, that was a BOMB of a shot I'm surprised he never hit it out the stadium.

It is only a game if you play by he rules. If you don't play be the rules. it isn't a game but something else and that don't count in a game.

The guy was feared. Still the only person I've seen intentionally walked with the bases loaded. His OBP FOR his career was.444. That's a career year for 99% of players. Top 5 player ever.

niremetal 8 months ago
For all the people saying Bonds deserves to be in the Hall because he would have made it even if he hadn't taken steroids , a rhetorical question: Does the really smart 10th grader who cheats on a final exam still deserve to pass the class and make the honor roll simply because he would have made it even if he hadn't cheated? No? Then why would we hold professional athletes to a *lower* standard than a 15 year-old?

Steroids or not Barry Bonds should've been a first ballot Hall of Famer. Best hitter of all time. Barry Bonds had 1,011 BB's and 684 swing and misses from 2001-2007. he has more IBB than the Rays have in franchise history. 49.1% of his hits were for extra bases, the most in MLB history. From 2001-2004, 39.5% of his plate appearances ended with a home run or a walk. In 2004 Bonds had 373 at bats and reached base safely 376 times the only time in MLB history someone has reached base safely more than registered at-bats. Lastly if you removed all of Bonds intentional walks and home runs in his career and converted them to outs he would still have an on base percentage of.329. He's the home run king and greatest hitter of all time people!! A baseball god

The thing that always got me about Bonds (pre and post-steroids) was that he choked up on the bat. I can't think of any other power hitter, and certainly not of his caliber, who did.

Steroids don't give talent or that swing. His 2004 stats are untouchable, he needs to be in the hall.
Angel Gali 9 months ago
Who cares if he did steroids, they werent banned till 2003. So many guys that didnt get caught. If Barry Bonds wasnt such a dick, i am sure people would like him regardless.
tatoforever 9 months ago
Without steroids, people will find a way to squeze their genetics to the max. Nothing will change, he would be the best anyway.
Reliablethreat 9 months ago
I don't care if you take all the steroids in the world, you still wouldn't hit the way Barry hit. It takes A LOT more than just strength to hit homeruns! Barry Bonds was the best all-around pure hitter in MLB history. Stats don't lie! HomeRunKing
