Very nice, but at $20 each not many can afford them. :(

These seem like a pointless product. The main reason you opt for pie cuts is to decrease the radius of a bend when a standard bend won't work. If they're only offered in one size you've lost half the versatility of a pie cut to begin with. At least with this design you can twist them to change the compound direction but no chance of an elliptical shaped bend.

nice build! looks and sounds great ! is that your white Yukon on the video like wheels and tire setup could you tell me what setup your running?

That’s about the stupidest exhaust of ever seen 😎

It looks like the flex vent on the back of my clothes dryer. And that kit only set me back about $15. No disrespect intended to the quality of your work.

What's the name of the bike uses in the video.i really like the position of the footrests.
buildthings79 1 month ago
So after you fab it up with those things. Take that pipe profile to a mandrel bending shop and have it done properly in seamless pipe so there is no edges to create turbulence inside the pipe which WILL happen with all those pieces. This is how a backyard hack makes an exhaust. If youve never had a formal education in pneumatics and hydraulics then you wouldn't know how bad a little edge or angle in a pipe adds turbulence to the flow.

These are Titanium? Right? I think everyone is assuming it is stainless steel. But if you look at it being $20 a piece for Titanium it is a little easier to justify the cost.

@tfs. did you ever rebuild your Mighty Max after the accident? That was a badass build.
MrStacy1974 1 month ago
The Fabrication Series that sucks, I was following the build at the time because my Courier used a similar spindle. Not ro mention my intention to out right plagiarise. lol
The Fabrication Series 1 month ago
MrStacy1974 Nope. The person I was in the accident with was not insured so my only choice to recover loss was to part out and scrap. It was sad to see it go, but I can always build another.

What has been overlooked is the pipe length. For optimal performance they must be of equal length, and approximate the cylinder volume.
The Fabrication Series 1 month ago
Bryan St.Martin Optimal is the operative word. Optimal is a point of view from the builder's perspective.

At 1200 bucks for 60 pieces they would be best invested for mock up. Just imagine gow much a gt40 style bundle of snakes set of pipes would be and then att say 40 oz times 8 pipes.

Kirsty Sinclair 2 months ago
The Fabrication Series yeah , like I said I did skip through the video. Don’t get angry with me because your welds look like crap though. Maybe if you weren’t poking your tungsten out so far you wouldn’t get the wandering or whatever is causing the bad finish. But whatever.
The Fabrication Series 2 months ago
So you just felt like trolling the comments? There's one spot where I pulled the purge plug on the last couple welds, but I'm quite certain I explained everything about purging and everything behind it. I'm also very sure I hooked up the lines, plugs, and turned the bottle on too. Did you miss those parts?

Why not just buy the plastic snap together pie cuts there reusable there cheap snap them shape them then messure cut your pipe bend it done.
The Fabrication Series 2 months ago
thunder god Because you wouldn't have pie cuts is you use bends. The point of pie cuts is to keep them pie cuts. It the end user wants bends, they'll use bends instead.

I have always thought this 'pie cut' and 'lobster cut' stuff looks like somebody was too ghetto to buy proper fuckin' mandrel bends. The only reason I could see for this product is to mock up - so you can cut some bends to the correct angles.

Nothing like straight pipes to Rob your horsepower!! But they sound good.
Robert G 13 days ago
Ok, thanks for answering, I appreciate it.
Ed Debevic 13 days ago
I have been tuning Harleys for a long time and trust me straight pipes rob your horsepower, you always ride your bike under 3000 RPM unless you have a dragbike but even a dragbike you want some type of megaphone, like I said they sound great.
Robert G 14 days ago
I'm just trying to understand how they would rob you of power. Do you know how or why they would? EDIT: Nevermind, I found some info. It says the effect is minimal at only 2% - 3% and this below. A straight pipe, for example, can cause exhaust gas velocity to increase. This will likely reduce engine performance below 2,000 or 2,500 RPM, making your vehicle a little slower to launch from a stoplight. Your engine may show more horsepower on a dyno – and might even finish the quarter mile a little faster – but it won’t be faster on the street. Not enough to worry too much about IMO.
Ed Debevic 14 days ago
You can tune all you want but straight pipes will rob your horsepower!! They have dyno runs all over the inet to prove it, don't take my word for it.
Robert G 14 days ago
How would they rob you of power if you tuned for them?

So the money goes to the supplier while the builders loses some cash. Besides that, those scallops just don't cut it for 20 bucks a pop. Imagine the cost for v8 headers, way out of my range for sure. Good video though, something new on the motorsport market.

peter bukovec 2 months ago
Ha! Great idea, stupid pricepoint. I guess I'll just make my own lipped piecuts on the lathe. They also won't have the scalloped look and will be as light as normal piecuts. Both of these are advantages over the shoguns in my mind.
MrMrsregor 2 months ago
use PET tape to hold them in place for mock up
ShadowOfDeath24 2 months ago
Lol 1200 in just piecuts for 2 tubes. You can rent a tube bender for $75 and end up with the same pipes shape.or you can mock it up and then piecut it up and reweld after you have the profile much easier. Anyone that starts with a big stack of piecuts and builds off that..rather than making an exhaust ouy of tubing AND THEN cutting it into piecut pieces and rewelding it is an idiot
the jackel 1 month ago
Why not use a PVC pipe heater / bender for mock - up ?.

The Fabrication Series theres alot of stupid people on here, im a 35 yr builder..these save time n bs
The Fabrication Series 2 months ago
I'm really trying to understand what you're saying here. Are you suggesting that someone is an idiot for starting with a stack of pie cuts? I've been doing this for a whole lot of years now and I really can't wrap my head around the concept of bending a system up, then cutting it and welding it back together. That's literally more work than just building is from a stack of cuts. I can't understand how or why someone would be an idiot for doing less work.
Gene Holmes 2 months ago

Lime 2 months ago
Whats the crimped or bowed middle section do? If they had that lip and recessed ends and not the bowed middle section i think i'd like it that way more. Looks cleaner. Okay, i understand possibly why they have the bowed section. Possibly when you weld it it has that WMWMWMWM look.
The Fabrication Series 2 months ago
The scallop is for looks I guess. It could be argued that it's for weight reduction, but you'd have to ask Jesse why he did it haha. I just build with them. I think it would be neat to have the option with or without the scallops but I like the look with them. It's like a signature look where someone knows you have the product.
Billy Beane 2 months ago
I like the thickness but the scallop is offputting. The idea used to be clean bends. Then stainless came and it was clean welded bends. Now I'm not wasting money on these and it's only the look. Chops are about looks and these start reminding me of that crappy flex exhaust tubing that shows up once in awhile.
Humpty Dumpty 1 month ago
The Fabrication Series yeah, I understand about things evolving I just think it looks like flex pipe as well. I know in the custom car world we have rat rods which aren't everyone's idea of what looks good but they are supposed to look rough and it doesn't cost the national debt to do it either.
The Fabrication Series 2 months ago
It reminds me of that flex stuff as well, but the beauty of looks on builds and choppers is that they are ever evolving.

Boosted & Built Garage 2 months ago
Really cool idea but I could never justify that kind of cost
jameswoodsist 1 month ago
as a professional fabricator i couldnt justify the cost at all. not when a 10 foot section of tube (enough to do several of these motorcycle exhausts) costs as much as a single shogun cut. the price is just not viable imo. any fabricator that has the skill to attract a customer willing to pay 1200 dollars for an exhaust should be able to do a pie cut exhaust from regular tubing that looks just as good if not better in a reasonable time frame.
Franks Life Changes 1 month ago
If you factor in the time and everything it might be worth it. If you want your bike back sooner than later also, time is money. Depending on what the hourly rate of the fabricator is, if it saves 2 hours of labor @100$ an hour or more, you could get 10+ shogun cuts for the same price and have the product done 2 hours earlier.
paulbrown357 2 months ago

MrMrsregor 2 months ago
right, $20 each x 60 of them = $1200.!.

Great video as always. I'm still new to TIG and trying to pick up everything I can but one question I've had is, what is that towel/pad you put under your hand when your resting your hand on the workpeice? Is that so you can move around the workpeice in a smooth motion? I've never seen one of those until I started watching your videos. Thanks and keep the videos, I've learned a TON.

The Fabrication Series thank you. Right after asking you I saw Abom79 using it as well haha

Shelvin Singh That's a spark plug boot to keep the heat down. Jody from Welding Tips and Tricks sells the TIG Finger which is more effective. Mine always seem to find their way to other peoples fingers and disappear, so I just use spark plug boots. Nobody steals them.
