This is what the DC cinematic universe should be like with good writing and wonderful character development

Then my mind goes to an alternate storyline where the power core was destroyed when Vandal Savage tried to open the time machine. Superman was unable to go back in time but Savage committed to create another but stable power core for the next 50 years. While waiting for it to finish, Superman and Savage grew fonder with each other. maybe fell in love with each other. The love grew during the 50 years whilst the power core was built. Then the time comes when Superman is ready to go back in time. It was a difficult decision for him to leave the now changed Vandal Savage, his now companion and confidant. But Savage assured Superman that changing the timeline is for the better of mankind. and assured that the memories he hold for Superman will last forever.

Bruce Timm's DCAU usually had great writing, but this was brilliant. This path of redemption is a great closure to the character arc of an immortal, human villain such as Vandal Savage. Despite Vandal's immortality, he could not escape or outgrow his humanity and at the end of it all, he realizes how futile his ambitions were -- that he is a mere human now imprisoned by immortality and desolation.
Jed Farley 2 months ago
No one ever thinks about the long run of immortality. Usually thinks about how living in the past to now is good, not 200, 1000, 10000 years or more in the future.

I love the beard. Keeping it? NOT A CHANCE😎

MARVEL may be dominating the movie industry, but their TV shows got NOTHING on the old DCAU! I'm just glad I had the chance to grow up with both

You know, it's kind of nonsensical that it would take *time* for time to be altered. You feel like it would be within an instant, as soon as Superman returned to his timeline.

Of course Diana loved the beard. She's an ancient amazon and all the powerful ancient male heroes rocked sweet beards. Even though the amazon's didn't like men culturally, they were still women. So if your an amazon and you like guys or swing both ways then of course your male ideal will have a sweet beard. Look at ancient Greek art. Hell, if women could naturally grow thick beards, the women in the ancient Greek art would have had them too. The ancient Greeks were all about having kick-ass beards.

I think Batman would've noticed a bullet coming his way, much less a missle.

It's been so long since I've seen this, that I just realized I kept mixing this ending with the ending for 'Meet the Robinson's' where Goob disappears.

Somewhere in the far future, Vandal Savage has the strangest sense of deja vu, but he never quite understands why and the feeling soon fades.

A bit of a dickish way to dismiss Lobo, tho. He just learned how Savage (tho over thousands of years) changed for good, and now he ditching Lobo like that

Question, if the past is changed, wouldn't that only effected the specific timeline and not the one from Vandal Savage's future?
Sean Mansfield 6 months ago
No ulterior motives, no tricks, no deception. Vandal Savage wanted Superman to win as badly as ever, and spared no expense or resource to help Superman save the world from himself, and his heart warmed when he learns in the future that he was finally stopped.

If Supes hadn't come back in time, Deadshot kills the unsuspecting Batman right then and there. Four days later, Vandal Savage perfects his mission from stealing that piece (Star Matter) he's talking about from Ray Palmer (The Atom). Ray never becomes the Atom in that timeline, the League loses both Superman and Batman, both the brain and the muscle are gone. No wonder JL lost to Vandal. Such connective writing and amazing detail in this show. Love it.

And this is another reason why justice league was so underrated. You had a moment like this, or where flash and ultra humanite helped some orphans have a good Christmas that showed not all the villians were 100% evil. Given time or the right moment they can still be good

i was hoping future vandal made it to the past. he realized his ways the hardest way possible and wouldnt want it to happen again but you know what they say. Theres always a price in playing God. Just like what happened when flash asked for another flash from another dimension.

I wonder if vandal's gravity machine also indirectly led to the defeat of the Thanngarian empire, besides from hawkgirl death (spy at this point) I imagine the weapon pushed earth to a new orbit or made it useless for the thangarin plan in starcrossed.
