casey affleck played robert ford well enough but it was Brad Pitt who played the difficult character of Jesse James, who was a complex historical figure, it was not easy, but i do say to Brad Pitt a good piece of acting, i like it. !!!!!!!

this is not the only 2007 film that was massively overlooked and underrated. go watch First Snow with Guy Pearce ASAP. Also, if you love westerns, go watch The Proposition also with Guy Pearce.

I've been thinking about commenting for a long time and decided what I wanted to get rid of is a very happy person. I often make people laugh around and i think the world is also incredibly beautiful, but i love the sadness i feel attracted at night alone i enjoy very sad musicI think the world is also incredibly beautiful, but I love the sadness I do not want pity only a couple of it goes so well, My father once said that the happy people in public alone at home are the most depressive. American Beauty Theme makes me feel that everything in the world is incredibly beautiful, sorry for my Englisch (German Guy)

Song for Jesse gives that fairytime story feel. I wasn't even sure by the end of the movie if Brad Pitt's character was the real Jesse James, as he was known to have many impersonators and be an elusive person.

Amazing soundtrack. And, while it perfectly compliments the film, also sounds like an instrumental Nick Cave & TBS album. Love it.

There's no comparison to No Country for Old Men. I can't believe some critics said it was. This is the most boring meandering waste of talent I've seen since that monster loser with Kris Kristofferson. I believe it would have been more honest with the audience to make it a documentary.
raham mz 3 months ago
Ronnie Bishop funny you say that this was a waste of talent. Even though both brad Pitt and casey Affleck gave their best performance in a film. Not to mention directing and the beautiful cinematography of roger Deakins. Overall this movie was amazing

As a resident from close proximity of Jesse James ie.StJoseph, Mo - it is a shame that no one included a St. Joe native Greg Camp's tribute song to Jesse James. Once you hear it - you (almost) can't forget it.

A wonderfully realized, most under rated movie. Beautifully told in all aspects of solid movie making gold. One of my favorite Westerns/Movies ever. Truth is, Casey Affleck should have won BSA in this role. I like it even more than his Oscar winning role in 'Manchester by the Sea'.

the rats chewing on the injured, wwI have got to be the worst, right next to how people die from nerve gas (serin) is absolutely horrible. Once again, all this on the eve of wwIII, but I'll go and fight, again, for the the western world, we came here to establish Little Rhineland in the U.S. but then we got to be Americans, we were proud to have made enough money to be able to pay taxes, what a different world now.
Daniel Warne 1 year ago
BTW, you might study Jesse James a little, while we make a saint or Robin Hood of him today, he and his cohorts were all dirty, low down, thieves and killers, possibly created by the war between the states. But they were no-one nice, in any way, shape or form. The only way to deal deal with them was to put them down quickly, completely, surely like the mad dogs that they were. Really too bad (sad) they weren't really the Hero's we try to make them out to be today.

Maybe it's genetic memory, I don't know. Maybe there's something to that. My grandfather was core of engineers, 5th Nebraska company. My father was Co A, 739th medium tank battalion wwII, as in campaign of the ardennes, Rhineland, central Europe, I lost cousins, nieces, nephews in Korea, Viet man, etc. Can't say about reincarnation or what? Like I said, genetic memory, I can tell you exactly what it was to fight there, down to nitty gritty details, you had to be there, the trenches, gas, building bridges (wwI)you cannot imagine the atrocities. I have pics from wwI and wwII, (liberation of Paris, which Patton had nothing to do with((he was 3RD army)) yet he took credit for 1st army's actions,wwII) no one has ever seen, may still be classified to this day. My other grandfather was a trapper in Colorado-Wyoming mountain area, grandmother was born in Canadian Indian territory, (now Oklahoma) taught school all over from Texas to Wyoming. My great, great grandfather was a graduate of the citadel and decorated civil war general. I can tell you the horrible details of all of it, down to the bloody massacres of the indigenous people here, we were here before here was ever here. This soundtrack (album) goes back to a time when things were quite different than they are now, I wish we still lived in 'that' world, I'm lost somewhere there, don't know how to take this mess of today, I really don't. Anyway I love this soundtrack, really like music by Warren Ellis, and Co. Many thanx for the good tunes (blues, blues) guys. All this on the advent of wwIII. But I'll go and fight again, even if I'm killed, I don't get to leave, I'll be back again, it's driving me insane. (maybe I had to be brain damaged at birth to begin with((most likely))) I don't know. just many thanks for the music, please keep it up. I understand Nick Cave lost a son to drugs, I'm so sorry, having lost my son in similar fashion. you find a point that all music and words fail, nothing you can do will ever change anything about it. just once again, many thanx for the music, and my condolences.

movies like this one is way too complex for mainstream population. that's why it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. there's nothing wrong with that. majority of population are just a huge mass of simple minded working class with super short attention span and no ability to comprehend something that's deeper than typical Hollywood script.

This is possibly the most  soulful, heartfelt soundtrack ever composed: it's so close to the feelings conveyed by the movie one might wonder if every single note was actually written as the film itself progressed.Just like the movie it speaks for, it's a rare gem that takes its time to leave a mark, but once done it stays forever.

One of the greatest movies ever and the score really tops it off! I love the scene when Charlie is warning Robert about Jesse being paranoid and is very serious then turns to Jesse ad gives him a smile. What great acting Sam Rockwell did in this film along with everyone else, especially Casey Afleck, wow.
Daniel Shore 1 year ago
Casey & Pitt are great (as always), but Sam is on another level imo. The scene by the fire when Jesse holds the knife to Rob's throat - the uncomfortable laugh of Charlie followed by the deadly serious 'understanding' look he gives Rob is just perfect.

This movie was a masterpiece. It was so good most people didn't get it, they said it was too long. I think most people are shitty with short attention spans. It was some of the best acting, most gorgeous cinematography, and authenticity to recreating 1880s America on film that I have seen. We in the U.S. are so dishonest about telling the stories of our past usually going for the sensationalist and easy. This movie is not easy; it is haunting, moody, and soulful and gives the story of Jesse James the psychological treatment it deserved. Great soundtrack as well!

We in the U.S. are so dishonest about telling the stories of our past usually going for the sensationalist and easy That is the biggest load of shit I have ever heard in my fucking life. Through film and TV, Americans are the only fucking people to go back and investigate and explore their own sordid history, other countries are always making movies glamourising their own country or people, usually in shitty boring war movies. So you have it completely wrong, you think you're right because of a few examples, but there are many many examples in the other direction.

I like how at the end Jessie is all like No fuckin way! and dives clear of the fired bullet at his back and rolls to his feet and has the smooth grip of his colt in his hand all cool and untouched and already slid free of the holster with no idea how it got there because he had dope ass killer instincts and the hammer is already pulled back and fucking BLAM there's a puff of smoke and a cracked concussion through the room and that goddamn coward Robert catches this quicksilver grab and spin and fire move and the bullet opens his chest and he looks to Jessie and Jessie looks to him and then he falls. And then he dies.
