Beyond Burger vs Impossible Burger (Fake) vs Real Burger - Which One Tastes Better?

I got my dad to help me taste test the Beyond Burger vs Impossible Burger vs Real Burger! The Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger are two of my favorite vegetarian plant based burgers and to me they both taste like a real beef burger. So I went to Burgerfi to Pick up a real burger and a Beyond Burger then headed to Toasted in Winter Park, Florida to pickup an Impossible Burger so we could do a side by side legit food review of these burgers! I hope you enjoy my Beyond Burger vs Impossible Burger vs Real Burger and say Hi to my dad in the comments! ------------------------------------------------------ (Affiliate link - I make money if you buy anything from here) Music by Joakim Karud ------------------------------------------------------ - to print recipes - Facebook me - Instagram anyone? - Lets tweet each other!! ------------------------------------------------------ We are SauceStache! Hey! You said you would get into how the impossible burger is flavored, and what heme is, later in the video, then you never mentioned it again! Soo, can you make a new video about heme?

Super interesting video. you and your dad did more for the vegetarian cause w this video than most hardcore vegs. I mean this vid is very helpful. Unfortunately here in Burger, none of these burgers are available yet. Same thing w the Stocks of these companies. There is no way to support them from Europe ! Same for MMA and legal Pot. It's not arrived in France yet :-)

Thank you!!! I hope you get the chance to try them soon!

I know the impossible burger isnt meant to be eaten on its own, but I know beyond sells regular beyond meat, so why not try real vs impossible vs beyond with just the meat and nothing else to help mask the flavours? plus, what was the quality of the real meat? although I still think it was a good comparison
X 1 day ago
+Sauce Stache ok cool, and that is a very good point about the eating a patty plain. indeed high quality beef, pretty fair comparison
Sauce Stache 1 day ago
So that is a good point, but I will say that knowing these burgers without the dressings you would easily be able to tell. I thought about it and I felt that I don't know too many people that eat a burger patty plain and I wanted to see if someone could tell the difference between a dressed burger. The beef was USDA Grade A grass fed beef. Very high quality
Jonathon Simon 3 days ago
A truer, more scientific test would be to taste only the patty, but I'm always seeing these fake burgers tested with bun, cheese, and other toppings. Of course that's going to help hide the taste of the meat.
Sauce Stache 1 day ago
I thought about that, but the point of the test was to determine if someone could tell the difference between the burgers, not the patties. I weighed the options of testing just the patty itself but it seemed like no matter how you tested the solo patty you would immediately be able to tell. Considering that most people eat a dressed burger I wanted to see if a normal burger eater would be able to tell the difference when it was dressed. It gives you a more complete picture.

That is so cute. Loved it. Tried Beyond Burger today and it was almost too meaty for me.so no way am I trying Impossible Burger, which is GMO anyway and that is a deal breaker in my book anyway.

Real burger I don't like that phrase. I think when people say that, they mean animal flesh. I don't think there is a such thing as a real burger a burger is a burger, even if it's vegan lol.P.S I'm vegan
Marcus Thomas 5 days ago
+Sauce Stache Alright, thanks for clearing that up.
Sauce Stache 5 days ago
Marcus Thomas well I’m on your side. I might not be vegan but I promote the vegan/vegetation and plant based lifestyles. You might not like the phrase but the reality is that the beef burger is commonly referred to as the real burger. I’m sure you’ve heard people reference plant based meat as fake meat right? To win over more people you simply have to play the game and arguing semantics just turns people off of your cause.

I’ve had both and had supported both until I heard about Impossible Foods using animal testing then I went all in with Beyond Meat and couldn’t be happier. Impossible Burger is the most eerie experience I’ve had since kicking meat 20+ yrs ago — appearance, taste, smell — and along with my views on animal testing I don’t care for it at all. Beyond Meat for the win, I truly do feel this is best option and the most available on a global scale at that. bmeataware.blogspot.com

We don)t have these burgers in our local grocery stores yet. I have looked. Hope they ramp up the distribution. Just trying to eat healthier so I have reduced red meat consumption almost entirely except as a treat at a bbq or odd restaurant meal. However, I do like the taste of a good burger and would love to have these in my home.

+Sauce Stache I personally know friends of mine who are vegans who take supplements as a must. And can you tell me where they can get vitamin B12 and other nutrients? I honestly don't have problem with people choosing to eat what they want, but I hate it when they try to shove it down my throat as a healthy diet. And don't forget that people like the one you replied to make it worse for them
Sauce Stache 1 month ago
I was vegan/veg for ten years without supplements. It’s honestly not needed.
serial killer psycopath 1 month ago
+Sauce Stache even though I totally agree with how you expressed it, but tbh we need meat, we don't get all our nutrients from plants. Of course you can take your supplements, but no for me it's unnatural.
Sauce Stache 1 month ago
I doubt that we will get to human meat. Let me just say this. Kindness, understanding, and conversation is a way better way to get people to see your point then extremism. At 1 point in your life, you made the decision to not eat meat and I can only assume it was your own choice based on beliefs and not because of an extremist telling you that you were eating corpses or talking about human meat. I made that decision years ago and have wayed back and forth on it. The only thing that ever made me rethink my perspective was extremists. To 95% of people in the world that burger is food. Its real food. Do they need to eat it, no. Will your name calling and extreme view change anyone's mind? No. it will simply be looked at as a meme of vegans, its mocked. You've heard the jokes. this type of comment is why.

Impossible is by far the closet to real beef! Hands down. Beyond tastes like fake meat, take it from a meatetarian!
Sauce Stache 1 month ago
Ive heard that from so many people!! Its funny as a veg I like the beyond better, but I can see how that works! Ive heard from a lot of vegitarians that they like the beyond better but meat eaters really like the impossible!
Thomas Keets 1 month ago
Both are trash! Nothing replaces the REAL thing from nature! Vegans may feel better eating this chemical concoction because they think they are saving an animal not realizing they’re shortening their life. You may not be able to taste the difference but your body can.

Thomas Keets Have fun eating your pus, disease, dioxins, excess hormones, supporting money hungry countries, and supporting the pollution our environment. I really salute you!
Thomas Keets 1 month ago
Max that’s why it’s consumed “occasionally”. Still much healthier and nutrient dense than lab created mixture of inflammatory goop!
Max 1 month ago
+Thomas Keets grass fed organic meat is not sustainable, and causes more greenhouse gas emissions than factory farmed meat. It might be healthier but the majority of the industrialised world eats grain fed beef, which promotes disease.
Thomas Keets 1 month ago
Max please get your facts straight! Redmeat does not promote inflammation nor does it promote oxidative stress nor is it inflammatory! Processed meats do but not grass fed organic meat. There is a significant distinction.

Nowadays I prefer the impossible burger. The first time I tried it I ALMOST puked, though. It’s been over 10 years since the last time I had a real beef patty, and the impossible burger was SO meaty, it really messed up with my head. In fact, I think it’s so meaty it starts to resemble something like elk or whatever - it’s a burger where everything that makes it taste like a burger is amplified. I guess as a rule of thumb, if you haven’t had meat in a while, you’ll prefer the Beyond burger. If you’re used to meat (or if you keep eating stuff from Impossible Foods), you’ll prefer the impossible burger.
Sauce Stache 1 month ago
I think you nailed it! I personally love the taste of the beyond. But I know plenty of meat eaters that love the impossible.
Cat Stevens 1 month ago
I've had the Impossible a lot. Love it when it's cooked properly (basically just not undercooked). Tried the Beyond Burger yesterday with low expectations and it tasted great. I am in the same boat where I think the Beyond Burger tasted a little better, but the Impossible is definitely closer to what is meat. Thanks for the review and unbiased opinion, your Dad seems cool.
Sauce Stache 1 month ago
Exactly! I love the beyond taste, but I think the impossible is closer. It seems like vegetarians like the beyond better and meat eaters like the impossible. I've heard the Impossible 2 is even closer!

John Thom 1 month ago
What you’re saying is irrelevant. It doesn’t matter what the beyond or impossible burgers taste like. The question is do they contain large amounts of essential fatty acids and cholesterol. If they don’t then these so called burgers cannot ever replace meat.
Chill Dill the Pill 1 month ago
Can you site that meat is the only source for essential fatty acids? And which cholesterol? LDL or HDL? Meat actually increases LDL.

I'm on a vegan diet for quite sometime. When I tried the beyond burger. I was blown away. I hesitated to eat it. It's appearance was like a real burger. Every bite I took I felt I was being deceived by my family. I couldn't finish eating it. Until I read the ingredients. It's awesome. Highly recommend it. If you're missing a real burger taste.

I don’t see the hype of the Beyond Burger. As a new pescatarian (who doesn’t eat meat, except for fish), I tried it, and it was fucking gross. It tasted like gas and made my head hurt. It’s literal shit. But then my brother liked it, so maybe it’s just me. Does the Impossible Burger taste different?
Gaua Shxh 1 month ago
Sauce Stache oh wow! I thought you were a vegetarian! I’m so glad another person has joined this type of lifestyle! I guess the BB is arguably the healthier option. no gluten, pea protein and soy free. Impossible burger is like a high-tech meat simulation.
dan q 10 days ago
but imitation meat that is not made of soy primarily has HIGHER CARBS SO IT'S NOT AS HEALTHY!! SOY HAS VERY LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX. MANY MEATLESS PRODUCTS HAVE HIGH GI S THAT'S NOT OF SOY SO IT'S LIKE EATING BREAD UPON BREAD. THAT IS TERRIBLE FOR A DIABETIC OR ANYONE TRYING NOT TO SPIKE INSULIN LEVELS. THAT'S WHAT MAKES SOY AMAZING IS IT CAN IMITATE MEAT AND VIRTUALLY NO CARBS!!! JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE VEGAN DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE EATING HEALTHY. ONE BEST CHECK WHAT THE INGREDIENTS AND NET CARBS, PROTEIN ETC IS IN THEIR MEATLESS SAUSAGE, BURGERS, CHICKEN ETC. MANY OF THEM USE GRAINS OTHER THAN SOY AND HAVE VERY HIGH CARBS.

Like I said, I’ve had the impossible burger and it’s pretty good. I think I’ve had the beyond burger, too. They’re both good. But even if you initially can’t tell the difference of the impossible burger upon first bite, I don’t think our brains will ever be fully tricked into thinking it’s real meat. Our brains are just too sophisticated for that.

They should make a burger with the Beyond burger incased in the impossible.because the impossible creates a nice crust but can get dry and the beyond is more juicy

its the best Ive tried so far. Kind of a weird experience, I thought it smelt chemically before cooking, but once done I tried and thought OMG this tastes like a real beef burger. It really has the taste and texture the same, every now and then I think this is not beef, but I will put up with that not to stab an animal in the throat. Its an amazing compromise, and things can only can even better from here. All I can say is a new Wow, if this is anything to go by the world will be vegan soon
Sauce Stache 3 months ago

I tried both last weekend (I can't eat the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER bc it's made primarily of WHEAT and I'm a celiac). My daughter (23 also vegan) ordered the impossible burger and was CONVINCED the restaurant had switched it on her and asked me to take a taste and spit it out- I was convinced it was MEAT! While she was snarfing her impossible burger I made a beyond burger -which was very good BUT If you are WFPB not just vegan/vegetarian BOTH have oil in them (which is a no no on a Whole Food plant based diet). I usually eat Sunshine Burgers (no they don't taste like meat but are WFPB no oil, min processing) but would eat the Beyond Burger occasionally. I contacted Impossible Burger and while they are getting ready to release burgers into markets mid 2019 they are also working on a GF burger.so I guess I'll wait -I am jealous for those of you that can eat Impossible Burgers but wish they had less oil (for WFPB eaters). Great video!

The impossible burger resulted from some clever genetic engineering. Heme is an iron-containing chemical compound found in humans and other animals in blood hemoglobin and muscle myoglobin (two types of globin proteins that basically envelop the iron-containing heme). It’s the heme in myoglobin that is responsible for some of the taste aspects of dead cow meat. But it’s also found in plants, in particular in leghemoglobin in soybean roots, which is also a globin protein enveloping a heme. Extracting the leghemoglobin from soy plants would be unrealistic because it would take too much soy. So they inserted the gene that codes for the leghemoglobin protein molecule (coding just means the gene provides the instructions for synthesizing a particular protein) into a yeast cell and then the yeast cells became little factories producing leghemoglobin. This provided the heme that gives the Impossible Burger its meaty taste while no cows were harmed and the impact on land use remained low. That’s what genetic engineering (or genetic modification) is typically about: inserting a gene from one organism into an appropriate cellular host that then happily goes about producing whatever that gene would produce in the donor organism. There can be risks, but to me (a chemist) this seems to be one of the more benign uses of the procedure. As long as they disclose soy on the label, people with soy allergies can avoid it. One problem with other genetic engineering projects is concern that they could make a safe food unsafe by inserting allergenic genes.

I was vegan for about 5 years actually. It is a choice I made because of health issues. In my day to day I use very little animal products :)

I've been loving the impossible burger at The Cheesecake Factory every time for our weekly splurge meal. I ask for it well done which just makes the outside even crunchier. I'm planning on trying it in all their burger variations sometime as I go along.

Why contribute to Animal abuse/suffering/death when we don’t need to and can eat food just as yummy ! VeganForLifeBaby ✌🏼❤️🌱

There is plenty of intentional murder in farming. What do you think farmers do to rabbits that are eating their crops? They don't let them go into the forest. You inferred in your above post that you don't contribute to animal death. I don't agree with or contribute to the meat industry but I also don't have any delusions that I don't have any blood on my hands simply because I don't eat meat.

Ben Done what is your point ? That we should intentionally and unintentionally mass murder as many animals as possible.? No thanks.

Do know that millions of animals are killed each year in the process of cultivating and harvesting vegetables?
