The Impossible Burger: Reviewed by a Vegan and a Meat Eater

The Impossible Burger is the first plant-based burger that claims to look, smell, cook and taste just like it's cow-based equivalent. We went to Momofuku Nishi in New York City to find out for ourselves. Beware the MOLTEN calf of gold. Molten, as in shape-shifting. of, means from, or belonging to. gold, as in money, an object of commerce, medium of exchange. calf - living substance. slavery is evil, the most oppressive form of usury. usury - to look upon somebody as if s/he was a resource and to treat him/her as such. . c'mon people - pick up the pace! These burgers are not going to make themselves! You wanna get paid, fed, don't you? The niv (new international version) is a satanic construct - burn it. For wjy would you eat the words of the devil, and accept lies into your heart ? Read kjv (king james version) only. They have been promoting slavery, murder, and the forcible impregnation of women while denying them abortion services (breeding programs), eugenics, for centuries, while calling themselves the chosen people or master race. God never chose a people, but he chooses persons, and his chosen ones, are his people. Having a copy of the bible, the tanakh, or the works of poets, musicians, and other artists, speaking about Love, seems to have had no effect on many, in making them better, holier, nicer, et cetra. Maybe because they have not the heart to receive IT.

Heme, so heme protein from plant products. It looks good, It would be a nice analog for a burger. I’ll have to look into the nutrition facts compared to a burger.

I’ve been vegetarian for only 9 months I think?? and I tried this a couple months ago because it was that time of the month and I was craving meat but I was like no DeAnna so then I saw a local restaurant had this and then I got it and when I took my first bite, I couldn’t eat the rest because I thought it tasted to much like meat

I went to a restaurant in NYC while visiting for a concert and it tasted like real meat so much that it scared me. I thought they mixed up our orders.

The 'bleeding' isn't bleeding its the proteins activity in the 'meat' not 'blood' just potato proteins.

Why is everyone happy that it bleeds? Like I'm all for a little pink on the center but if I took a bite out my burger and blood came ozzing out I'd probably throw up. Definitely wasn't cooked right.

I feel like faux meat is specifically designed to please meat eaters and former meat eaters. No self-respecting lifelong vegetarian, mostly plant-based, or vegan would ever enjoy it.

Had one. Taste better but still no beef. Why do vegetarians always try to make their vege look meat, while the meat eaters never bothered to make their meat look vege?

the only thing I dont like is that Bill Gates and Google is put into a crap ton of money into it and they're totally illuminati. say what you want, if you don't know they're a huge agenda, too huge for many to even grasp. you're not awake. they don't promote something unless, they're something fishy going on. get your asses out of school and parents, get your KIDS out of school. what are you doing?!? letting them be programmed with lies. ofc most parents are programmed with lies too. the information is available, but not in school. to find out about the whole conspiracy. problem is that most people are so sleep, they can't even phantom that it could be true. that's what happen when a sane person walks into a mental institution. the insane people, thinking the sane one is the insane.irony. genetically modified foods.to genetically modify YOU.

I'm not sure whether I'd actually like it, I think my response would be kind of similar and I'd be a little bit freaked out by just how like meat is is. But if I saw one of them on the menu then I'd definitely try it! Then again, I've never been a particularly big burger fan anyway

i’m a vegan as well and i’ve been wanting to try this but on a vegan facebook group i’m in someone got a lot of backlash over eating this because impossible foods tested an excessive amount of the soy leghemoglobin / heme on rats to see if it was safe for human consumption. not sure if many people know this but it’s something to look into if you’re a vegan or vegetarian and are really against cruelty free products. it said that the rats had no changes BUT it was also said that the ingredient was not required by the FDA to test it on animals so why a company marketed towards vegan products would test on animals is beyond me. just a little FYI to any vegans or vegetarians out there that want to try this.

MLE 1 year ago
This doesn't just have gmos; the whole thing is synthesized in a lab. This seems to be the opposite of a natural diet. Calling it plant based is a stretch. Its not approved by the FDA. This shit creeps me out. Just say no to GMO.

amcalabrese1 1 year ago
I tried it recently and I was shocked how good it was. It was not the best burger I ever had, but it looks, tasted and smelled like meat. I felt it tasted like a normal burger, but it was over a year since this video. One of my cousins who is a radical vegitarian (not vegan) feels this is unethical as you are supposed to eat plants that taste like plants. My reaction is that I LIKE meat, and I would like to eat something that tastes like meat, but has a better enivronmental impact. When I want to eat a plant that tastes like a plant, I eat a salad.

I tried it and it was good. but after a few hours, I took a nap, it caused stomach discomfort and I had diarrhea. So I will not order it again. It tasted a light, meaty burger but it is mushy and soft texture. If you added any sauces and vegetables on it - it is a good burger. I even finished it. Not going to order it again.

sklort mcfungus 1 year ago
honestly if these take on the mainstream market it'd be amazing bc the way that we farm cows right now is extremely unsustainable, not only for being able to feed people, but because cows are grossly over bred and are one of the BIGGEST culprits behind CO2 emissions. i'm not exactly what you'd call a bleeding heart vegetarian here (i tend to stray sometimes, mostly when budget is tight), but i do think that mass production-style farming and industrialization of livestock is an overall negative thing.

I doubt I would eat this. Long before I went vegan I thought that beef burgers were gross. I would look at the blood, and the tiny pieces of animal fat and feel nauseous. I could never eat one if I looked at it first.
Monique Shorten 1 year ago
The thing that I don't understand is if a real meat burger was that pink you would send it back so you don't get food poisoning. How is that supposed to be appetizing? Sure a steak can be a little red, but not ground beef.
U.N. Owen 1 year ago
Vegan? No Problem - Hey, I've always been a picky eater, and rarely eat meat. BUT; when this guy says (0:55) he's 'never had a burger' , to have someone like this REVIEW a simulated meat burger is assinine. I've NEVER had ANY fish, seafood, in my life - First, I'd NEVER want to try 'simulated seafood', BUT, even if I id, I'd have NOTHING to compare it to.

I do wanna try this cuz I liked the beyond meat burger. Personally, as a meat eater, honestly, I like vegan food if it tastes good and doesn't break the bank, if they make veggie burgers that are around the same price as meat and taste delicious, I'm down, even if it isn't exact, I do get why they want to replicate it though, and it's getting shockingly close now.

I mean for a new product on the market that costs a lot more to make and is not subsidized by the government. Their goal is to make it even cheaper than the meat you buy, so it will be an easy decision for people to make when buying groceries. And this is just being sold in a few spots right now in nicer restaurants, by the time it comes to the masses, I'm sure the product and costs will be much different

Unexpectedly, my first reaction was to feel so incredibly, insanely sorry for the red-headed guy that he'd never had a burger before. That is just unimaginable to me personally, haha. Did say why he didn't eat meat? Because he sounded very opposed to the idea. I'm excited for this new breakthrough in technology, but it was oddly overshadowed in this video by the fact that it bothered me how deeply opposed some people are to eating meat, like it's horrible and wrong and inhumane. Do people not know that literally our entire digestive system was designed to process meat, that humans have eaten meat for a hundred thousands of years+? The part that is inhumane is how we mass produce this meat, conditions, and how we treat our livestock. This entire thing was very fascinating and revealing. I hope to try it one day, especially if we can figure out how to replicate the exact taste, nutritional value and protein benefits. Thus far, that isn't exactly something plants have proven able to reproduce. but this was neat to contemplate.
So You're Dating A Vegan 1 year ago
Hey Adrian, thanks for the great response! The inhumane way that animals in our food system are treated is precisely the reason why some vegans are opposed to eating meat. Why spend money and support a system that is using that money to cause harm and cruelty? And hope you get to try it as well, it's pretty great :)
