Just a warning: I suspect that some of us are hardwired to dislike the taste of Beyond Meat Burgers in the same way that some people can’t stand Brussels sprouts or cilantro. I’m a sometimes meat eater who tried BMBs just because I’m happy to eat less meat. I totally believe that many people enjoy them, but I found the cooking smell to be truly offensive. Not wanting to waste food, I tried a bite of the fully cooked patty and immediately spit it out because the taste was so disgusting. I poked around a bunch of online reviews and found a number of other people with the same response. A few pointed to pea protein as the BMB ingredient responsible for the bad reactions. When I googled “pea protein,” I found another smattering of unhappy people who had used pea protein in their protein powder mix. Pea protein seems like the culprit—some of us simply have bad reactions to it, while most people don’t. I would never eat another BMB anymore than I would eat soft shell crab again after my experience with a bad one. Just beware before you serve these to yourself or others for the first time that it might not go well. We’re in the minority, but we’re out here.

Brenda Carter same! I almost puked because of the cooking smell! And the taste isn’t at all what I expected. I am dissapointed but maybe it’s that pea protein thing :(

人造的牛肉会比天造的牛肉?别开这种玩笑了。你以为你是谁?比上帝还上帝?真会开玩笑!man-made 'beef' is healthier than the god-made beef? Are you joking? Who do you think you are? A being superior than the God?  Are you kidding? --- ONLY Idiots can be fooled by these commercial devils.

There are tons of packaging regulations. They pretty much have to sell it like that. It still uses 10 times less the resources compared to animal meat.

I hate these taste test done by long time vegans, their opinion is meaningless. Get hardcore carnivores and ask them what they think.

Liberals are the weirdest. Won't eat real food yet are such hypocrites they want the taste. It's the same people that say how great blacks and latins are without ever having to live with them.

These need seasoning but are a step above what was out there to the public. The impossible imo is so Much better

If you want to become malnourished like a vegan then beyond meat is just right for you. It doesn’t matter what beyond meat tastes like because it can never replace meat as a source of nutrients and it’s stupid to think so. People don’t eat meat for its taste, they eat it for health.

Sorry, but my SUBJECTIVE taste-test of the Beyond Meat burger concluded it tastes like **it! If you don't like beets - and I don't - the taste mid-way through the burger and the after-taste will turn you off to this burger. It's pumped with BEET JUICE! I'm a 27-year vegetarian, and I'm pretty open-minded on veggie/vegan foods. On the other hand, the Impossible Burger 1.0, made by Impossible Foods, WAS a REAL WINNER. It was wheat-based and had the same texture, chew, crunchy/burnt edges and aroma of a burger off the backyard grill. Then some GENIUS at Impossible Foods decided to ruin 1.0 with the soy-based 2.0. It is NOTHING, NOTHING like 1.0. Has none of the characteristics of 1.0 that made it such a GREAT VEGAN burger. If you like store-bought vegan Boca Burgers, then you'll like 2.0, but you can get Boca Burgers at 1/4th the price of the Impossible Burger 2.0.

Dont care about the animals but if it tastes good (like meat) and is better for you.I'll give it a try. I'm just worried about cost. It looks good from the video and would've added guacamole and pepper Jack cheese with mustard

I just had one and I am not much of a meat eater, however, it was okay. Mine had a lot of gristle pieces in it. Overall okay. I don't believe this will replace meat and I am not much of a meat eater.

I've been vegan for fourteen years but have any red meat in twenty-five years. I have one of these burgers on and it stinks so bad I know I could never possibly eat it. It smells like I am walking through a garbage dump and I will throw it straight into the trash where it belongs!!

Good flavor. It just doesn't have that texture I was looking for. The best description, for me, is that its grainy. But the flavor is the closest thing I've tasted yet to a real meat burger.

It is in fact cancer and it is trash. I ate two last night, went to bed at 1am and woke up around 4am with an asthma attack. It impaired my sleep and gave me back pain also. I knew those fucking patties would ruin me. It tastes good, but unhealthy as fuck. I felt it right away and regretted it. So much sodium also. Just unhealthy trash. Never eating this shit again.

still, why does the non meat cost more? Is it really cheaper to raise, feed and slaughter a cow, process it than it is to grow peas and process them into a burger? all the market says to me is dead animals that eat plants cost less than the plants it eats.

I tried these, they are great. Really tasty and couldn’t tell the difference, but simply way too expensive. 2x beyond meat beef patties $16.95 AUD 1.5kg of rump steaks $13.99 AUD. 500g of mince beef $3.99 AUD

Just made these burgers tonight and the taste was not like real beef in my opinion but it was not that bad as far as veggie burgers go from others I have tasted that was much worse. I started a plant based diet about a week ago and heard so much about these burgers, although the taste was okay, the smell of the burgers was awful and I could still smell them hours after cooking them, thankfully they did not taste like they smell. I think this will be my first and last time with these burgers due to that awful smell.

I see this as an innovative product for consumers looking for plant based protein options, and I think there’s definitely a market for it. But for people to say this will replace animal agriculture, is crazy. Animal agriculture is bigger than ever today, and sustainable practices are becoming more widespread. I believe in giving people options and letting them make their decisions, not pushing an agenda which is what a lot of vegans like to do.

I started my vegan journey like 4 months ago and I been wanting to eat something that was as good as a real or close to a real burger.I been eating morning star chicken and there burger pattys. there not bad but then I seen these burgers.I was exciting to try them and I absolutely HATED IT,I was so upset because it was more expensive and o lo came with 2 Patty's.well I tossed the other one in the trash where this product belongs.worst vegan burger ever.I'm making chick peas and quinoa right now and cauliflower and I'll make my own delicious burger

I gave it a try and it does not taste like a real burger. Unless you haven't eaten meat for a while, you'll probably agree. It's not bad, but for me it didn't live up to the hype. Plus, it's kind of odd how it's supposed to look like meat. And the fact that there are a lot of weird ingredients like cellulose from bamboo, Acetic Acid, Succinic Acid, Modified Food Starch. I'd honestly just rather have a natural veggie burger that tastes good on its (non-meat) own.

I was truly disappointed that here in British Columbia, Canada, the ones that are being carried by Choices Markets are sad looking patties that basically look like every other veggie patty out there. The Market doesn't even carry this cool packaging, but opted to place them in a clear box like the ones sold for pastries. The one in the video, looks like it's a homemade patty!!! I am a big supporter since we first had access via A&W up here. They taste great and I'll still buy them! Just disappointed the marketing up here fell flat. The Sausages were also tasty, but again didn't look like the advertised packages from the website. :-(

mini dwarfdude Thank you, feel free to take anything I've said, one good thing,we won't be alive to see it. In the 1960s, their was a song, Name of it was,In the year 2525 By Zagger&Evans. The crazy thing is,a few of the things described in this song, have already come true, and the other things I'm afraid will also come to pass. Check out the song and lyrics on YouTube.

Joann P Interesting theory we should write an academic paper together and go multi platinum worldwide
Joann P 3 months ago
mini dwarfdude I agree with you,I've had those same thoughts. I also believe that maybe,100 or so yrs from now, there will be no animals left on earth, and that the only way to see them will be the stuffed fake ones in some sort of museum. People will be shocked that they were hunted for their fur and meat, that we must of been a cruel society indeed. There will be no more dogs or cats either,no one would ever know the feel, or love from one, just left with the museum fakes. Some times,I get carried away with how awfull it May become. So,right now,I'd perfer our world, it's not perfect, never was, never will be,but at least by choice,we don't have to eat them,or hunt them,or wear them. Most important,we can still hug our pets 😁
