Jeremy Clarkson tries the meat-free "Impossible burger"

Can this burger save the world? Meat is one of the biggest causes of greenhouse gases. Hence Bill Gates and Google's latest big idea: a meat-free burger made in a laboratory from plants, but which bleeds and sizzles. Now it's coming to Britain. Watch Sunday Times Driving columnist Jeremy Clarkson take the Impossible burger challenge. Read the article in full at

This is not a safe burger and is not fully tested for consumption in humans. Scientist from Monsanto and the Gates foundation tested this burger stating it is safe to eat. This is basically a GMO created product made of heme thats creates new type of protein that has never been in our the food chain before. I will not ever eat one and i hope that restaurants do not start implementing Impossible Burger all over the world.
Saurischian Designer 14 hours ago
As a vegetarian I don't even like the taste of meat. Why would I want my food to taste of meat? Love Clarksons reaction though, and his statement at the end I completely agree with.
PunkZombie1300 12 hours ago
Some people need to stop eating meat for health reasons, like my mum has an allergy to meat (seafood is okay), and my dad can't eat red meat too often per his doc. So these products are still good for people who enjoy a burger but can't eat real meat for the sake of their health.

lmao i've had one of these, it's SUPER FUCKING OBVIOUS THAT IT'S NOT REAL MEAT, JUST LIKE EVERY FUCKING DOUCHEY MEAT SUBSTITUTE IN EXISTENCE. Fuck vegans and vegetarians, you're all self righteous cunts, and i could beat the fucking shit out of every single one of you pussies.

Do vegans really not know that animals get killed with ALL farming, especially when harvesting for tofu? I really think they don't know
Elision 15 hours ago
Yes, we know. And we also know that the majority of soy harvested goes to feeding animals, who are then also killed. It's just about reduction of harm.

+Bex Guess Italy, i've been to the usual fast food joints mcdonalds, burger king, etc, and then to the specific U.S. style restaurants , it feels like it's just cooked grounded beef. I've even tried buying premade burgers and grilling them. I think burgers are just not for me, idd rather have a steak with some salt and pepper, or some ribs
bootyparadox 20 hours ago
It sounds like you need to go to a good restaurant with good burgers. If cooked/seasoned right, they taste amazing. Splurge a little on yourself!

Question- if you have a passion for NoT eaten meat and believe vegetarian is the only way why would you want to eat a product that taste like MEAT / ANIMALS? Dies this not defy the purpose lol
og getsu 20 hours ago
Yellow Fin Aquariums this was designed as a meat replacement for meat eaters looking to eat more veggies. Vegetarians really don’t care about burgers. They don’t choose veggies out of spite, they choose them out of preference or to be healthier. Morons (in both camps) always want to make it political.
Jim Trainor 1 day ago
Here's the contradiction about these fake burgers: they are made from plant protein isolate (e.g. pea and/or soy) and some sort of seed oil (e.g. canola, soy) that are the products of unsustainable mass mono-crop agricultural practices that require endless fossil fuel derived fertilizer, endless irrigation, and that slowly but surely destroy the top soil. Factory farming of grain fed beef is no better, makes a less healthy product (meat that is stripped of omega-3), and makes the animals sick to boot. BUT: pasture raised, grass fed beef, raised as natural ruminants, are the exact opposite. They are part of the virtuous sustainable cycle that we call life , as old as evolution itself, that builds top soil, feeds the very perennial grasses that the animals consume, and creates healthy animal food products. The fake meat products are a regression, the real Beyond Meat or Impossible burger product that we should all be striving for is one that simply returns beef to its natural ruminant state.

I’m not a vegetarian but I am a chef, and the most important point of the meat free burger isn’t to satisfy vegetarians but to to give meat eaters other options, so the could feasibly eat less, red meat, become healthier and then we wouldn’t need so many cows than are contributing to global warning, and help in animal welfare I.e less cattle “hopefully “ better animal conditions. Clarkson wouldn’t understand this because he’s a cunt

I'm definitely not a vegetarian. I've been enjoying cookouts (grilling) my entire life and have some sort of meat with most meals. I have also had impossible burgers more than once. Why? Because they ARE pretty damn good - just not the same as a beef hamburger. That said - I agree with one thing that was said by Clarkson. WHY do vegetarians make such a big deal out of mimicking meat if they're against meat? It's like people righteously substituting fudge for fuck. We know your sentiment. We know you're cursing. You're just doing it less well than you could with the real thing. If you're against meat, just don't eat fucking meat.

So, yeah, the Impossible site even says that the product should be served immediately, so the fact that they had to ask which was which tells you that it's pretty close. How that affected an refrigerated portion.who knows? Additionally, this was filmed in 2017 so that is the old recipe. The revamped version shipped in March 2109 and is said to be substantially better (I've had five meals of the original version and I thought it was great). However, the most important flaw in Jeremy's conclusion is that.as stupid as it sounds, the Impossible product was developed for and is marketed to.CARNIVORES! Impossible doesn't give a shit about vegetarians or vegans, surprise, surprise. The concept of this product is to satisfy the world's s craving for beef while dramatically reducing the environmental impact of raising beef for now and well into the future. Vegetarians and vegans are distant considerations.

Oh no. a few tons of grain were used to make a ton of beef. How ever will we survive. It's not as though we make hundreds of millions of tons of spare grain. As far as the greenhouse meme goes, it is actually a negative feedback loop instead of a positive feedback loop, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

Jeremy Clarkson seems to think that veg burgers want to look like meat - news for you Jezza, meat doesn't come out of the animal in minced, processed discs. Neither options look anything like the animal.
Your Real Estate Expert 6 days ago
If you are a vegetarian, why would you want your veggies to taste like meat? Obviously, meat is delicious, that's why. The reason we meet goes back to Adam and Eve. After Adam and Eve sinned, there was the symbolic shedding of blood of an animal which was the symbol of the blood that would be shed when Jesus Christ died for our sins.
Your Real Estate Expert 6 days ago
Why are liberals trying to force their agenda upon us? If we want to eat meat, we should be allowed to eat meat. This is gotten way out of hand, look at that nutcase mayor in New York, Bill de Blasio. Who elected this guy? What is wrong with New Yorkers that they would put this guy in office? This guy is a total ass clown and is only after his own power, he does not care about anything but himself. You should see how the city of New York now looks since he has been in office, it is a total disaster.
Paul Marshall 6 days ago
This is something about vegetarians that I can never quite understand, they always want their food to be some kind of substitute for meat, Tempeh, Lentils, Eggplant. Tofu, Seitan, Quorn, like they are apologising for eating veg, so need people to think their food tastes like meat. If you want a meaty taste, eat meat for fuck sake! Meat is a natural product, millions of animals die every day killed by other animals, humans are just animals too. We eat meat, we eat fish, we eat grain, we eat vegetables. If you consider that 60% of all Mammals on Earth are some form of livestock, what happens to these animals when we stop eating them? Who will care for them? Do the farmers keep them as pets? Who will pay a farmer who no has no income to look after these animals? Who pays for these billions of excess animals veterinary care? Who pays the farmers for their lost livelihoods? What happens to the land that the animals have grazed on for centuries? What will be the repercussions to the eco-system, insect life and plant life for land that is no longer grazed? If you only want to eat Veg then get on with it, but don't come the holier than though attitude with people who like to eat meat! Vegetarianism is a fad, it is a none practical solution for a liberal idealism. Yes, protect the animals, by having farmers care for them, ready for slaughter!!

I tried an impossible burger the other day for the first time. It was one that we sell at my work, at a nice restaurant. It tasted really genuinely good, however it was easy to tell that it was not real hamburger meat.
